1925 Oldsmobile

Whilst I have owned the 1938 Chevrolet Master De Luxe sedan for nearly two years, I wanted a car built before 1930 and I selected the Oldsmobile. I purchased this car in June this year and surprisingly the previous owner works in the same building as myself in Dickson.

This car apparently had been for sale for a little while and after two weekend short trips in Belconnen, I purchased the car from a female member of the Canberra Classic and Antique Car Club. This car was restored by the previous owner and her partner and owned for a period of 25 years to June this year. A few boxes of presumably Oldsmobile parts and odds and ends also came with the car. I was impressed by the very good restoration result from two 1925 Oldsmobiles. This car won an award at the Governor Generals display of heritage cars a few years ago.

Since I purchased the car in June this year, I arranged for the chroming and fixing of the front and rear bumper bars and re-carpeting. I had been looking for an operation and maintenance manual for this Oldsmobile for a while, and my friendly car club member John Beale found one (dated 1926) at this years swap meet at EPIC, Canberra together with a large heritage plan of all the grease points.

Whilst driving the car to the Yass Valley Heritage Celebration on 7 November, the car stopped on the Canberra side of Murrumbateman at Jeir and I think this was a fuel problem associated with the vacuum fuel pump that may have corrected itself after 30 minutes?. I then continued into Yass  and out to the farm on the Coolalie Road, without further mishap. I have been told that I should regard these trips as an ''adventure''.
